Hamilton, NY — A gem of a string quartet’ … (Pittsburgh Press) accurately describes the Cuarteto Latinoamericano, a group of world-class musicians, returning to °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê for their second residency October 2-3. In residence at the Performing Arts Centre in Mexico City, and Pittsburgh’s Carnegie Mellon University, the Cuarteto performs worldwide and boasts a repertoire that is both traditional and innovative, featuring Latin American composers of all eras, and new works by composers around the world. Cosponsored by the Music Department and University Studies, the Cuarteto will give a class on Latin American music for the Core Cultures Programs, as well as holding masterclasses with the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê Chamber Players. Their 7:30 p.m. Friday concert in the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê Memorial Chapel will feature quartets of Evangelista, Gabriela Frank, Alvarez, and Villa-Lobos.
